Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a comprehensive system that provides the foundation for a secure communication over the internet through the use of public and private cryptographic keys. PKI encompasses roles, policies, hardware, software, and procedures necessary to create, manage, distribute, use, store, and revoke digital certificates. At its core, PKI enables secure electronic transfer of information for a range of network activities such as e-commerce, internet banking, and confidential email.
